Introduction

       The current issue of Athletic Insight focuses on aggression and culture within sports. The media has generated an increased awareness of the amount of aggression that is present both on and off the field. In the past, researchers have attempted to identify the sources of aggression among the general population. However, very little attention has been given to aggression within the athletic domain. Although cultural awareness is one of the hottest topics in psychology today, it has been used mainly in clinical settings. As you will see, culture has very definite applications for individuals working with athletes as well. More specifically, this issue will focus on those elements that are useful in differentiating aggression among Hispanic, Asian and American athletes. Abstracts and full length versions of the articles are presented. We look forward to your comments and feedback.
